According to my mother, Mattie Lee Denton Green, George was on his walking home the evening of 9-21/22-1942, and collapsed beside the road. The local police found him and "assumed he was drunk", took him to jail without seeking medical attention. He died during the night. According to the family, George did drink occasionally, but was not prone to drinking to exess and therefore it's unlikely he was in fact drunk. RG
