Darrell W. Towe, 60, of Bowling Green, died at 11:25 a.m. March 10, 2011, at the Hospice Center with his family at his side.

The Bowling Green native was born Sept. 29, 1950. He was a retired painter and a member of Glendale Baptist Church, and was very active with the Street Ministry Outreach for many years in Austin, Texas. Darrell was known for his selflessness and giving spirit to help others. He loved to fish and play pool. He was a son of the late Aubrey Towe and Geneva Freeman Towe.

Memorial service is at 2:30 p.m. today at Glendale Baptist Church, followed by a celebration of life at 5 p.m. at Bowling Green Towers. Darrell asked to be cremated and the family chose to honor his request. The family will place his remains in the Cremation Niche at Fairview Cemetery beside the fish pond. Arrangements are being handled by J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Glendale Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Jason Towe and his wife, Laura, of Gallatin, Tenn.; two grandsons, Jacob and Luke; a sister, Deborah Towe Margerum and her husband, Peter, of Louisville; two brothers, Dennis Towe and his wife, Karen, and Danny Towe and his wife, Cheryl, all of Bowling Green; six nieces, Dana Pruitt, Shelly Towe, Michelle Ellis, Kelly Meredith, Kellie Dossey and Elizabeth Margerum; four nephews, Jeff Towe, Jeremy Towe, Justin Towe and Ryan Margerum; and a special friend who has been by his side, Marjorie Gratz.
