Mary L. (Hunter) Blakey

Mary L. (Hunter) Blakey of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Lawrence County, IN, died Friday, August 22, 2003, at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.  Born on August 20, 1018, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Grover and Della (Burford) Hunter.  She married Carlos L. Blakey on October 28, 1935, and he survives.

Surviving with her husband are are three sons:  Don Blakey and his wife, Amy, of Bedford, IN, Dennis Blakey and his wife, Gayle, and Steven R. Blakey and his wife, Betty, all of St. Petersburg, FL; two daughters, Elaine Blakey of St. Petersburg, FL, and Barbara Miller and her husband, Tom, of Bedford, IN; eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Theo Clark; three aunts with whom she was raised:  Straucie Brown, Ethel Brown, and Glovina Dee Speer; one granddaughter, Tracey Jo Blakey; and two great-grandsons.

She was a homemaker and attended the Fairview Church and Mundell Christian Churches in Lawrence County and the Central Bible Church in St. Petersburg.

Services for Mary Blakey will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 29th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Kenny Fisher officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Lawrence County.  Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
