On Friday evening October 1, 1926 at 10:15 at his home in East Moody Joseph H. Newman quietly and peacefully passed away. He had abeen in failing health for sometime but was confined to his bed for only a short time. He bore his afflictions without complaint often expressing himself as being prepared to go. Owing to his advanced age all that medical skill could offer and human hands could do, was powerless to stay the hand of Death.
Joseph Hl Newman, aged 85 yrs and 1 month was born in Washington county, Tenn. Later he moved with his parents to Ken. and in 1861 he joined the Union forces and served throught that memorableconflict. On November 7, 1866, he was married to Miss Sarah H. Holder and this happy union lasted 0 yrsor, until he was claimed in death. He came by wagon to Tx in 1881, locating near Moody where he has resided continuousluy for 45 yrs.
