Evelyn Elizabeth Buckner, age 88 of Canmer, died Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker, a farmer and a member of the Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served as pianist and organist for over 60 years and was a former member of the Hart County Homemaker’s Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Diana Jeffries and husband, Keith of Canmer; one son, Leonard Buckner and wife Sara of Louisville; one sister in law, Alice Sydnor of Canmer. Five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson also surviving.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Browder and Valeria Sherfey Sydnor; her husband, David P. Buckner; three sisters, Eunice Thompson, Christine Hudgins and Cyrene Bell and a brother, Harold Sydnor.

Funeral services for Evelyn Elizabeth Buckner will be held at 1pm Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Canmer with burial in the Webb Cemetery. Visitation after 2pm Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Brooks Funeral Home and after 9am Thursday at the church.

HORSE CAVE - Leo Bell, 87, of Canmer died at 5:43 a.m. EDT July 26, 1999, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. The Green County native was a retired farmer, former Hart County Farm Bureau director and a member and elder of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a son of the late Grover Bell and Millie Jeffries Bell and husband of the late Cyrene Bell. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. CDT Thursday at Winn Funeral Home with burial in Pearl Webb Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include two sons, Ralph Bell of Hardyville and Rodney Bell of Canmer; a brother, Van Bell of Illinois; a sister, Lizzie Lee Richardson of Hodgenville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
