Wilbur W. Smith, 56, of Frankfort died unexpectedly there Monday, Jan. 7, 1974.
He was an Administrator Assistant at the State Department of Education.
Smith a native of Edmonson County was a coach at Irvington and Morganfield before coming to Munfordville as coach and Physical education Teacher in 1954. In 1956 he became director of pupil personnel at the Caverna School District and in 1956 he became principal of Caverna High School, a position he retained until June of 1966 when he went to the department of Education.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty Isaacs Smith, Frankfort; tow sons, Charles and Bruce Smith, both of Frankfort; two sisters, Mrs. Ora Reynolds and Mrs. Reland Price, both of Munfordville, Sallie York and Mrs. Mary Madison, Bowling Green; four brothers, Perry V. Smith, Brownsville; Clarence H. Smith, Cudahy, Wisconsin; Clifton and John Smith, both of Louisville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was the son of P. L. and Eva Gillock Cole Smith of the Silent Grove Community in Edmonson County.
Funeral Services were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery. The body rested at Rogers Funeral Home in Frankfort until time for the services.
