I've included the photo below to give you an idea of what we look like these days. This was taken in our backyard in June at a high school graduation celebration for my son, David (standing beside me). Next to Dave is my daughter, Shelley, with my wife, Dee, and her parents, Eva and Don Garrett, seated in front of her. Our oldest son, Matt, is kneeling next to them.
Dave is 18 and will be a freshman at Appalachian State this Fall, double majoring in sacred music and piano performance. Shelley is 16 and started back to school yesterday at North Raleigh Christian Academy as a high school junior. Matt graduated two years ago with a degree in biology from Hampden-Sydney College near Farmville, VA. He currently works as a construction foreman for a custom builder in the Raleigh area. Dee has a full time job keeping the rest of us straight as well as running her own business, Garrett Reporting Service (freelance court reporting). I've just completed 24 years with IBM and currently manage a team of technical support architects and advocates that work with Global System Integrators, representing both our largest partners as well as our largest competitors (a truly interesting - and schizophrenic - job). Not to leave Don and Eva out, they are retired and still live in the house where Dee grew up in Dunbar, WV (just outside Charleston).
