Cave City, KY -- Charles Lohden, Jr., 73, of Cave City, died Thursday, September 7, 2000 at the Medco Nursing Facility in Bowling Green.

The Barren County native was the son of the late Dewey and Vera Carey Lohden. He was retired as superintendent of the Hart County Creameries and a deacon and member of the Cave City Baptist Church.

The well-known and civic-minded "Junior Lohden" served on the City Council of Cave City and was mayor pro-tem for several years. He was a member and past president of the Cave City Chamber of Commerce and was recognized as Cave City's Citizen of the Year in 1967. From 1981 to 1998, he served as Magistrate of District 6 on the Barren County Fiscal Court.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Coffey Lohden of Cave City; a daughter, Connie Cooper of Cave City; and a sister, Juanita Alexander of Bowling Green.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel with burial in the Cave City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
