Fort Worth Star-Telegram (TX) - Sunday, January 13, 2013 Deceased Name: Laura Evelyn Isenberg Toms TEMPLE - Laura Evelyn Isenberg Toms, 99, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at a Temple nursing facility. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Laura was born June 28, 1913, in Gary, Ind. She was the eldest child of Anna Laura Cassidy and Calvin Cloyd Isenberg (Carter A. Benson). Evelyn moved to Chicago, Ill., and later married Albert Henry Toms. Over 20 years later, their marriage was dissolved and she moved to Fort Wayne, Ind., to live near her mother and brother. Known to her family as Evelyn, she used Laura after her divorce. Evelyn was a volunteer for the Blind League of Fort Wayne and also taught crochet for many, many years to others interested in learning the craft. She was preceded in death by both her parents; her former husband; her son, Charles R. Toms; and both brothers, Robert C. Isenberg and Thomas P. Cassidy. Survivors: Daughters, Diane Burgess (Fred) of Temple and Elaine Skrodenis (Richard) of Scottville, Mich.; four grandsons, David F. Burgess (Janice), Michael P. Burgess (Lisa) of Fort Worth, Richard G. Skrodenis (Emily) of Ionia, Mich., and Robert S. Skrodenis (Molly) of Louisville, Ky.; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
