Evelyn Elizabeth Buckner, 88, of Canmer, KY passed away at 1:27 PM ET on Monday, April 14, 2008 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY. The Hart County native was a retired homemaker and farmer. She was a member of Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served as pianist and organist for over 60 years. Ms. Buckner was also a former member of the Hart County Homemaker's Club. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Browder and Varleria (Sherfey) Sydnor. Her husband was the late David P. Buckner. She is survived by One Daughter: Diana Jeffries (Keith) of Canmer, KY; One Son: Leonard Buckner (Sara) of Louisville, KY; One Sister-In-Law: Alice Sydner of Canmer, KY. She is also survived by five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Eunice Thompson, Christine Hudgins, & Cyrene Bell; one brother: Harold Sydnor. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, KY on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM CT and at Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April 17, 2008 from 9:00 AM until time of service. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM CT Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the church with Bro. Deon Jewell, Bro. W. E. Hedgepeth, Bro. Freddy Norris, & Bro. Nolan Hensley officiating. Interment will be in Pearl Webb Cemetery in Canmer, KY.
